Mounted Tai Chi
Mounted Tai Chi

If you are expected to be straight and balanced on a horse, you must first be straight and balanced on the ground. But, once riders have developed an understanding of tai chi principles on the ground, it is time to start practicing these principles on horseback. BalancedRider™ Tai Chi mounted sessions are designed to allow riders to apply the principles of breathing, relaxation, balance, and rooting on a moving horse.

As with the un-mounted lessons, BalancedRider™ Tai Chi mounted sessions use breathing meditation and qigong exercises to develop suppleness in spine and hips. They also help you learn how to use your body to influence the horse's movement. We evaluate your body mechanics while you are riding to diagnose areas of weakness and blockage. We then use this information to add specific exercises to the un-mounted lessons so that you can work to improve your riding from the security of the ground. BalancedRider™ Tai Chi mounted sessions are often conducted on the longe line.

BalancedRider™ Tai Chi mounted sessions are not meant to replace lessons with your regular trainer. But, if you find that you have problems carrying out the instructions that your trainer gives you, we can work with your trainer to help you understand why and develop a program to help you improve.
